Blood-group endo-β-galactosidase 98A (SpBgg98A), assigned the E.C. number 3.2.1.102, is a derivative of Streptococcus pneumoniae. It is an enzyme that hydrolyzes the 1,4-β-D-galactosyl linkages adjacent to a 1,3-α-D-galactosyl or N-acetylgalactosaminyl residues and a 1,2- α-D-fucosyl residue. The recombinant SpBgg98A, purified from Escherichia coli, is a single-domain Glycoside Hydrolase family 98 (GH98) enzyme (see more details at www.cazy.org).
