Cellulase 5A (CbCel5A), assigned the E.C. number 3.2.1.4, is a derivative of Caldicellulosiruptor bescii. It is an endo-1,4-β-glucanase. The recombinant CbCel5A, purified from Escherichia coli, is a modular Glycoside Hydrolase family 5 (GH5) enzyme, with a C-terminal family 28 Carbohydrate Binding Module (CBM28) followed by two SLH domains (see more details at www.cazy.org).
